Delegation Policy
Recommended Action
Whereas Council recently amended its Procedure Bylaw to permit only 5 delegations per meeting unless there is a 2/3 majority vote of Council to add more;
Whereas Council now meets only twice a month, the meeting agendas are full, and times is at a premium;
Whereas several groups external to the Township often make delegations to Council simply to share information in a public venue; and
Whereas such information sharing delegations from organizations and groups outside the Township can eliminate available delegation spots for residents of the Township who might have more pressing matters pertaining to issues in the Township, especially those issues on the Council meeting agenda;
Therefore be it resolved that Council amend the Procedure Bylaw to direct future information sharing delegations from groups and organizations external to the Township to Council Priorities Committee meetings, rather than Council meetings.
