Recommended Action

That Council approve the renaming of Glover Road north of the Jacob Haldi Bridge to Kwantlen Boulevard subject to additional positive stakeholder consultation and securing required approvals;

 

That Council direct staff to erect dual language signage at intersecting streets along that road portion, when all consultation has concluded and after required approvals have been granted;

 

That Council approve an expenditure of up to $4,000 from Council Contingency for signage production and installation costs associated the renaming of the road portion of Glover Road and for the potential acquisition of a required “halkomelem language” font set;

 

That Council direct staff to continue discussions with representatives from Kwantlen First Nation about the potential dual-branding and/or renaming of select streets in Fort Langley and present further proposals for Council consideration; and

 

 

That Council direct staff to look at other naming opportunities in the Township of Langley, such as the branding of new parks, trails and special places for inclusion of local First Nations cultural acknowledgement and language, and present such opportunities from time to time for Council consideration.
