Title
Subdivision Signs
Recommended Action
Whereas subdivision signs have recently raised community issues;
Whereas subdivision signs are seen by the public and residents as markers of neighbourhoods, and as such should be protected as public property especially since neighbourhoods are important to residents; and
Whereas it is not clear that all subdivision signs in the Township of Langley are on public or private property;
Therefore be it resolved that Council ask staff to review the policies and bylaws with respect to subdivision signs and their placement as well as how many of these signs exist and where; and further
Be it resolved that staff bring forward a report and recommendations to Council on how to protect these neighbourhood markers including information on how many subdivision signs are on private property, whether existing subdivision signs should/could be moved from private to public land, the costs and legal implications of doing so, and future covenants to protect subdivision signs and other valid Township-approved neighbourhood markers.
