Recommended Action
Whereas Notices of Motion, while addressing important issues to some Councillors, often do not receive enough time for debate; can often consume large blocks of valuable meeting time and can become contentious due to the lack of background, written reports, and other information;
Therefore be it resolved that the Council Procedure Bylaw be amended to require Notices of Motion that are not time sensitive, be submitted for consideration at Council Priorities Committee meetings before being presented to Council at a regular meeting for debate.
