Recommended Action
Whereas:

a. The Mayor's Standing Committee on Public Engagement demonstrated the need to continually reach out to the public for input and feedback;
b. The recent promotion of Community Associations reinforces the need for transparent, proactive consultation;
c. The Township of Langley is comprised of six (6) communities consisting of Aldergrove, Murrayville, Fort Langley, Walnut Grove, Willoughby, and Brookswood;
d. Public input must come from all facets of the community including the business community, school district, concerned residents, and the recreation and cultural communities; and
e. Input from the community can be received from individuals or organizations who maintain a balanced, non-partisan, proactive, non-political approach to ensuring that residents' needs are taken into consideration as part of council priority setting sessions;

Therefore be it resolved that:

1. A Community Input Group Task Force be formed to consist of
one (1) individual community representative from each of the aforementioned six (6) communities (total of six (6)), one individual from the business community from each of the six (6) identified communities (BA's, BIA's in particular), (total of six (6)), and one (1) appointed by Council to serve as chairperson, one (1) member from the agricultural community, and one (1) member from the recreation and culture community, for a total Community Input Group Task Force of fifteen (15);
2. Each member of Council shall be appointed to the Community Input Group Task Force (total of twenty-four (24));
3. Each public member of the Community Input Group Task Force will be selected by Council and must agree that they are participating as a community volunteer on a Community Input Group Task Force and confirm that they will not be engaged proactively either as a candidate or special interest group;
