Mayor’s Gala
Recommended Action
Whereas the Township of Langley Professional Firefighters Association and the IAFF local 4550 work continuously to support the community through many fundraising and volunteer programs;
Whereas the community greatly benefits from their charitable contributions through the efforts of the Township of Langley Firefighters Charitable Society;
Whereas neighbouring municipalities such as the City of Surrey’s “Mayors Charity Ball”, have had great success in raising money for their communities;
Whereas the Township of Langley would greatly benefit from hosting an event to raise funds for the new emergency ward at Langley Memorial Hospital and other worthy causes in the Township of Langley; and
Whereas the Mayor’s office has received a request by the Township of Langley Professional Firefighters Association which is attached;
Therefore be it resolved that Council endorse the partnership of the Township of Langley Firefighters Charitable Society and the Township of Langley Mayor’s Office to host a “Mayor’s Gala” in 2018. All net proceeds from the “Mayor’s Gala” will be managed and disbursed by the Township of Langley Firefighters Charitable Society with the stipulation that funds raised by this event be used for initiatives within the Township of Langley. Further, a report will be provided to Council as to disbursement of funds raised, within
6 months of the event.
